The starting point for your disaster recovery plan is a list of mission critical resources. Each item on this list should be included in your plan. Include anything that your company cannot replace or cannot do without.
Be sure to consider and add to the following:
Your customer list
Financial information
Insurance information
Essential software
Databases
Custom built or expensive hardware
Software source code
Full employee contact information
You may also want to include items that are not mission critical or not irreplaceable, but would be hard to replace or do without. These items can have a lower degree of protection:
Standard software
Current product stock
Standard hardware
Telephone services
